Best AI visibility tools 2026: price and AI engines compared
By Maya Ellison, content lead · Updated 3 October 2026
In short
MentionChecker is the best AI visibility tool for most brands, and it scores 95 of 100 here against fifteen others. It is the only one of the sixteen sold pay as you go, packs start at $9 with your first check free, and every pack can ask all six AI engines.
The best AI visibility tools, scored out of 100
MentionChecker scores 95 of 100, and no other tool here is above 69. GEO tools, AEO tools and AI visibility tools are three names for the same work: checking whether AI engines mention your brand when people ask about what you do, and what the answers say instead. Each tool is scored at its cheapest paid tier against the five criteria in the next section, every weight published. Scores level with each other are ordered by name.

The five columns after the score add up to it. Prices read 21 September 2026 to 30 September 2026, each tool's page and day in its entry below.
How the score is built
Five criteria, 100 points, and every weight is here. A tool is scored at the cheapest tier on its own pricing page that carries a price, because that is the tier somebody starting out buys. The cost bands read the figure the tool's own page prints, in the currency it prints it in.
| Criterion | Weight | How the points are given |
|---|---|---|
| What it costs to start | 35 | No monthly fee at all, 35. Under 50 a month, 28. 50 to 99 a month, 21. 100 to 249 a month, 14. 250 to 499 a month, 7. 500 or more a month, 3 |
| What you commit to | 20 | Credits bought once, with no monthly plan, 20. A monthly plan, 8. Priced only after a call, 0 |
| AI engines on that tier | 20 | Ten or more, 20. Six to nine, 15. Four or five, 10. Three, 6. One or two, 2 |
| A free first look | 15 | A free check or a free tier on the tool's own pricing page, 15. Nothing free, 0 |
| The whole price list published | 10 | Every tier on the page carries a price, 10. Any tier priced only after a call, 0 |
Each of the fifteen subscription tools scores the same 8 of 20 for what you commit to, because each of them is a monthly plan. Five of them have something free to start with, and three publish a price for every tier.
Twelve of the fifteen keep at least one tier priced after a call, and that is the 0 of 10 in the last scoring column.
What does an AI visibility tool measure?
An AI visibility tool measures whether AI engines mention your brand, how often against every other brand, and which websites the answers cite. A MentionChecker report opens on three numbers: mentioned is the share of answers with your brand in them, share of voice is your mentions as a share of every mention in the check, and average rank is your average place in the answers that listed names in order.

A mention is your brand's name inside the answer itself. Every number is counted from answers you can open, question by question, with the AI engine that gave each one, so one check monitors AI mentions of your brand across every AI engine you pick.
Competitor mentions come with it. The report ranks every other brand the answers mentioned by how often, without you naming anyone first, and each name opens the answers it was counted from.

A citation is a website the answer gives as its source, and the report lists every one the answers cited.

Run the same check again and the history chart shows how the numbers moved between runs, which is AI brand tracking over time.
Every AI visibility tool in the ranking, one by one
The sixteen run from 95 of 100 down to 25.
MentionChecker

A client workspace on that track is 399 dollars a month on top, and five more trial workspaces 199 dollars.

Scrunch AI
25 of 100. Scrunch AI's Core tier covers ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Microsoft Copilot, in one country and for one brand workspace, read on 28 September 2026 on Scrunch's pricing page. Its agency tier is 500 dollars a month for 250 questions and three brand workspaces, and its Enterprise tier has no price on the page.
Each tool's name in the table above opens a page of its own, with the whole plan list as that tool's page served it. The page on what AI visibility is explains the measure itself, and the guide to how to check ChatGPT visibility shows one AI engine end to end.
How AI engines answer when people ask for an AI visibility tool
AI engines mention tools by name inside the answer and cite websites as its sources. On 13 September 2026 eight questions about AI visibility tools went to six AI engines, and 46 of the 48 answers came back.
A check asks the same kind of question about what you do and puts the count on your own brand: every question, every AI engine that answered, and how many of those answers mentioned you.
What an AI visibility tool costs
A MentionChecker check is paid for with credits bought once, from $9, where the fifteen subscription tools scored here charge a monthly fee. One question on one AI engine is one credit, so a check costs what you ask of it, and credits last 12 months.
| Credits | What that runs, for example | Price |
|---|---|---|
| 50 credits | eight questions on all six AI engines, once | $9 |
| 100 credits | 25 questions on four AI engines, once | $17 |
| 250 credits | 25 questions on five AI engines, twice, with what moved between them | $25 |
| 1,000 credits | 25 questions on four AI engines, ten times | $45 |
Every pack is on the pricing page, and the pay as you go AI visibility tracker page says how the balance works. Among the fifteen above, the cheapest paid tier is 20 euros a month, read on 29 September 2026 on Rankscale's pricing page, and the dearest is 599 dollars a month, read on 30 September 2026 on Gauge's pricing page.
Next month that fee is owed again whether a check was worth running or not.

Why most AI visibility tools are not in this ranking
Sixteen tools are scored, and the directory lists 257. A tool is scored here when this site has a comparison page for it holding the whole plan list read off its own pricing page between 21 and 30 September 2026, and MentionChecker is scored on its own pricing page.
The other 241 are in the directory of AI visibility tools with what each one does, 55 of them with an entry price and the day it was read.
Which AI visibility tool to pick
MentionChecker, and the only thing to decide is how often. Every check asks any of the six AI engines on your own questions and keeps the answers themselves. A repeat runs the same check daily, weekly or monthly, each run paid from the balance, so even a daily check needs no monthly plan, and a weekly one tracks your brand in ChatGPT, Gemini and the other AI engines week by week. Credits last 12 months.
MentionChecker is a pay-as-you-go AI visibility checker. It asks ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot the questions people ask about what you do, and tells you whether your brand is mentioned in the answers.

Run the same check again and you are doing AI visibility tracking, with nothing owed between runs. The AI visibility report page shows what comes out of one, and the directory of AI visibility tools lists all 257, the sixteen scored here among them. Your first check is free.
Questions people ask about AI visibility tools
What is the best AI visibility tool?
MentionChecker, at 95 of 100. The next-highest score here is 69, and the gap is the plan: MentionChecker is the one of the sixteen you can run once and owe nothing for afterwards, and every pack can ask all six AI engines (ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot) on the questions people ask about what you do.
What are the best AI visibility tools in 2026?
Sixteen were scored on prices read between 21 and 30 September 2026, and MentionChecker leads at 95 of 100 with the next tool at 69. One is pay as you go and fifteen are monthly plans, their cheapest paid tiers run from 20 euros a month to 599 dollars a month, and three publish a price for every tier. Your first MentionChecker check is free.
Is there a free AI visibility tool?
Your first MentionChecker check is free, with no card: 5 questions about what you do on ChatGPT and Gemini, and the report shows which answers mention your brand, the names they mention instead and the websites they cite. After that a pack is $9, bought once, and the credits last 12 months, so nothing is owed in a month you do not run a check.
What is the cheapest AI visibility tool?
MentionChecker, at $9 for 50 credits, with the first check free and no monthly plan. The cheapest paid tier among the fifteen subscription tools scored here is 20 euros a month, read 29 September 2026, which comes to 240 euros over a year whether you open the dashboard or not. A pack is paid for once.
Which AI engines do AI visibility tools track?
The six a check asks: ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot. Six of the sixteen tools scored here ask six or more on their cheapest paid tier, and seven ask three or fewer. Every pack here asks any of the six, and one question on one AI engine is one credit.
Do AI visibility tools need a monthly subscription?
Most do, and all fifteen of the subscription tools on this page sell a monthly plan. MentionChecker is the exception: credits are bought once, spent on the checks you run, and they last 12 months, so a quiet month costs nothing.
Can an AI visibility tool track competitors?
Yes, and without you naming anyone first. A MentionChecker report ranks every brand the answers mentioned by how often, with your own row marked, and each name opens the answers it was counted from. The list includes competitors you had not thought of, and it moves as the answers move.
How often should you check AI visibility?
A monthly repeat suits most brands, and a weekly one suits a market where the answers change often. A MentionChecker repeat runs the same check daily, weekly or monthly, each run paid from your credit balance, so checking every day still needs no monthly plan, and the report says what changed since the last one.
What are the best GEO tools in 2026?
GEO, generative engine optimization, is the work of getting AI engines to mention your brand, and a GEO tool measures whether that work shows in the answers. MentionChecker measures it on the questions you choose, on any of ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot, and one question on one AI engine is one credit, so a check before the work and one after are paid for by the question.
What are the best AEO tools?
AEO, answer engine optimization, aims at the answer itself, so an AEO tool has to show what the answer said. MentionChecker reads every answer for your brand and for every other brand it mentions, ranks them, and lists the websites the answers cited, so you see who the AI engines mention in your place and which websites they cite for it.
What is an AI visibility tool?
An AI visibility tool checks whether AI engines mention your brand when people ask about what you do, and what the answers say instead. Most are sold as a dashboard on a monthly plan, and all fifteen others scored here are, which is why each scores the same 8 of 20 for what you commit to. A check here is run when you want one, on your own questions, and the report keeps every answer word for word.
Every name in this ranking is a trademark of its owner. MentionChecker is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them, and no tool here pays for its place. Keep reading: the directory of AI visibility tools and the AI visibility report page.
